In this body of work, I chose to explore the idea of restraint as an entrance into the current social, political and cultural landscape. Each objects acts as a metaphor. The photographs serve to illustrate an idea relating to restraint in either a symbolic or literal fashion. The purpose of the exhibition is to create a space where the viewer may contemplate the meanings, implications and complexities of the word, "restraint." By using the method of wet-plate collodion ambrotype, each piece is made unique. The process emphasizes the depth of each object. The glass is highly reflective and adds a layer of fragility, which implies that the picture could easily be shattered.
