101 Objects That Made America, 2013
101 Objects That Made America: America In the World, are images of items pulled from the Smithsonian collections. These items range millennia from a pocket watch that was retrieved from a postal worker on the Titanic to a stairwell sign from one of the twin towers that collapsed on 9/11.
I was commissioned by Smithsonian Magazine to make these pieces for this special issue in 2013. Each image was made digitally on location in Washington, D.C., then turned into an ambrotype in my studio in Portland, Oregon, then scanned and sent to the magazine for printing.
